Sculptra
Sculptra is a non-surgical, FDA-approved injectable treatment that effectively stimulates collagen production to enhance the skin's appearance. Composed of a gel-like substance made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a synthetic derivative of lactic acid naturally produced by the body, Sculptra is injected beneath the skin by a healthcare provider to encourage increased collagen synthesis—a vital protein that provides structural support to the skin. This treatment addresses various concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, facial fat loss, smile lines, chin wrinkles, and even cellulite. Results develop gradually, with effects lasting up to two years, and some individuals may experience benefits for as long as three years. While Sculptra is generally safe, potential risks include bruising, swelling, pain, tenderness, redness, discoloration, and the formation of lumps under the skin. It is important to note that individuals who are allergic to any component of Sculptra or those with an infection or inflammation in the treatment area should avoid this treatment.
